Privacy policy
Last updated 18 March 2026. Effective date 17 March 2026.
This Privacy Policy describes the policies of Altera Psychoéducation, 13195 Rue du Maquignon, QC J7N 3K1, Canada, email: camille@altera-psychoeducation.ca, phone: 438-403-6597, on the collection, use and disclosure of your information that we collect when you use our website (https://altera-psychoeducation.ca) (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent, please do not access or use the Service.
We may change this Privacy Policy at any time without notice and will post the revised Privacy Policy on the Service.
The revised Policy will take effect 180 days after it is published on the Service, and your continued access to or use of the Service after that time will constitute your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. We therefore recommend that you review this page regularly.
Information we collect
We will collect and process the following personal information about you:
- Name
- Mobile phone
These three come from the contact form, and from nowhere else: we obtain them from no other source.
If — and only if — you accept measurement cookies, traffic data is added to that: which pages were read, how you arrived at the site, and the fact that a request was sent. It does not carry your name. The detail is in our cookie policy, and you can change your mind at any time.
How we use your information
We will use the information we collect about you for the following purposes:
- Administrative information
If we wish to use your information for other purposes, we will ask for your consent and will use your information only after receiving that consent, and only for the purposes you consented to, unless the law requires us to do otherwise.
How we share your information
We will not transfer your personal information to third parties without asking for your consent, except in the limited circumstances described below:
- Advertising service — Google Ads
- Analytics — Google Analytics
- Managing the requests we receive — Zoho Bigin
What the two Google services receive is traffic data and nothing else: pages viewed, the ad that brought you here, the fact that a request was sent and when. Your name, your email, your number and the contents of your message are never transmitted to them. Those services receive nothing at all until you have accepted measurement cookies.
Zoho Bigin is the software the practice uses to manage the requests it receives. Unlike the two services above, it does receive what you write: when you send a form, the information you entered is recorded there so that your request can be followed up and answered.
What is sent there is limited to the fields of the form you filled in: your name, your email, your phone number, the reason for your request, the organisation you represent if any, and your message. For a workshop registration, it also includes the workshop, your availability, your date of birth and your insurance coverage. Nothing is sent before you submit the form, and accepting or declining measurement cookies has no effect on it.
The practice's Zoho Bigin account is hosted in Zoho's Canadian data centre. Requests recorded there are kept for the same periods as the rest of your information, described under “Retention of your information” below.
We require these third parties to use the personal information we transfer to them only for the purpose for which it was transferred, and not to keep it longer than necessary to achieve that purpose.
We may also disclose your personal information for the following reasons: (1) to comply with applicable law, regulation, a court order or any other legal process; (2) to enforce your agreements with us, including this Privacy Policy; or (3) to respond to claims that your use of the Service violates a third party’s rights. If the Service or our business is merged with or acquired by another company, your information will form part of the assets transferred to the new owner.
Retention of your information
We will retain your personal information with us for 90 days to 2 years after users have closed their account, or for as long as we need it to achieve the purposes for which it was collected, as detailed in this Privacy Policy. We may need to retain certain information longer, for example for record-keeping or reporting under applicable law, or for other legitimate reasons such as enforcing legal rights, preventing fraud, and so on. Residual anonymous information and aggregated information, which does not identify you directly or indirectly, may be stored indefinitely.
Your rights
Under applicable law, you may have the right to access, rectify or erase your personal data, to receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to the active processing of your data, to ask us to share (transfer) your personal information to another entity, to withdraw any consent you gave us to process your data, to lodge a complaint with a legal authority, and to exercise other rights relevant under applicable laws. To exercise these rights, you may write to us at camille@altera-psychoeducation.ca. We will respond to your request in accordance with applicable law.
Please note that if you do not allow us to collect or process the required personal information, or if you withdraw your consent to its processing for the required purposes, you may not be able to access or use the services for which your information was requested.
Cookies, etc.
No measurement cookie is set before you have answered the consent window, and declining takes nothing away from the site. To learn more about how we use them and about your choices regarding these tracking technologies, please refer to our Cookie policy.
Security
The security of your information matters to us, and we will use reasonable security measures to prevent loss, misuse or unauthorised alteration of your information under our control. However, given the inherent risks, we cannot guarantee absolute security and therefore cannot ensure or warrant the security of the information you transmit to us; you do so at your own risk.
