Service
Psychoeducation for SAAQ, CNESST and IVAC
Services offered when an accident or a traumatic event has upended your life and a file is open with one of these bodies.
We work with the main public and private bodies to support people whose lives have been upended by an accident or a traumatic event. Our psychoeducation expertise is a powerful lever for lasting rehabilitation and a return to everyday activities.
What we do
Rehabilitation through action
After a traumatic event or an accident, your sense of your own capability often takes a hit. The psychoeducator works directly in your living or working environment.
- Assess remaining capacities and the obstacles to functioning.
- Draw up an intervention plan targeting concrete recovery goals.
- Psychological education on the physical and psychological reactions tied to the traumatic event.
- Support gradual exposure to the situations you dread: driving, returning to work, going out.
- Teach self-management strategies to lower stress, cope with low energy, live better with intense emotions, and simply manage to readapt after such a major upheaval.
By body
- SAAQ
- Getting back behind the wheel, managing post-accident anxiety and reorganising daily routine.
- CNESST
- Support through the return-to-work process, managing post-traumatic stress and adapting the environment.
- IVAC
- Rebuilding a sense of safety, managing emotions and support with social reintegration.
Cognitive fatigability
When the brain runs down
After an accident (a concussion, a head injury or severe post-traumatic stress), the brain has to work twice as hard at tasks that used to be automatic. This is what is called cognitive fatigability.
Picture your brain normally running on a full battery. After a shock that battery holds less, and every activity (reading, driving, following a conversation, coping with noise) drains it far faster.
The signs that give it away
- Headaches that appear towards the end of the day.
- Trouble concentrating, or growing irritability.
- Feeling at the end of your rope after nothing more than a grocery run.
- Needing complete quiet in order to think.
How psychoeducation helps
The goal is not to push through the fatigue, but to learn to manage your energy so that healing can happen.
- Energy management (pacing)
- Learning to recognise your limits before you reach breaking point.
- Planning activities
- Alternating demanding tasks with real cognitive recovery, no screens.
- Daily habits and sleep
- Tuning the habits that let the battery recharge more efficiently.
- Adapting the environment
- Reducing stimuli (noise, light, multitasking) to protect your resources.

How do I get psychoeducation covered through my insurer?
Generally you need a recommendation from your treating physician and authorisation from your case officer (SAAQ, CNESST or IVAC). We can guide you through those steps.
Do you write progress reports?
Yes. We produce rigorous progress reports and end-of-mandate reports, documenting how the goals evolved and our recommendations for the rest of the file.
Do you offer teleconsultation for these files?
Yes, if the person’s condition allows it. We often prefer an in-home approach where possible, to get the most out of the rehabilitation.
Two authorisations to get
A recommendation from your treating physician, and authorisation from your case officer. We can guide you through those steps.
